Deuteronomy 11:1 Thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and shalt keep his ordinances, his statutes, his judgments, and his commandments always.
2 Consider today (I do not speak to your children who have not known or seen the discipline of the Lord your God), consider the greatness of the Lord, his mighty hand and his outstretched arm; 3 And also his signs, his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to all his land; 6 And what he did to Dathan and to Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; as the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and so did their family, their tents, and all that followed them, in the midst of all Israel;
The book of Deuteronomy is full of admonitions like this. God warning the people not to forget what he did when he brought the people out of slavery. They were supposed to love God and never forget the amazing works he did.
When we consider everything that actually happened during the forty years, we find it difficult to believe that we would forget the greatness of God's works. His care in feeding them day after day during the desert period leaves you open-mouthed. If it had a nation that was blessed like the children of Israel, it would have remained faithful to God. But do not have!
Shortly after conquering the Promised Land they threw themselves into the deep end. All that potential to do good was thrown away. Don't let this happen to you! Keep the word of God firm. In the power of the Holy Spirit. When you do this, there is no mistake.
